Term 2, Lesson 3
For homework we had to find a few trailers that followed the Hero's Journey, I found the trailers of the most recent Alice in wonderland, Almost Famous,
Man of Steel and Spiderman.
We watch some trailers in class and discussed their Hero's Journey and the aspect of it that they contained. We then continued on to research further trailers for the rest of the lesson.

Term 2, Lesson 2
Today we looked over the power point on the Hero's Journey going through the stages that are necessary in any film that follows the Hero's Journey. We then looked at important roles that go along with the Hero's Journey. We then had to go and find three films that followed The Hero's Journey and we had to describe certain characters:
3 examples:
Finding Nemo:
The call to adventure: nemo was talken by a diver so marlin has to go and rescue him
Mentors: Crush - even though he wasn't the smartest character he said some very simple things to marlin that had a huge impact on him
Goddess: Dory - she isn't the goddess in a romantic way but her and marlin's friendship is a replacement in that situation
Reward: finding nemo and bringing him home
Almost Famous:
The call to adventure: When Penny invites Will to a party then he goes on tour with them
Mentors: Jeff Bebe and Russell Hammond - they either gave to much advice or none at all making Will realise things that he wouldn't have before
Goddess: Penny - 'saving' Penny as she was very troubled and needed help even though she didn't know it practically made her the goddess from the very first time we as the audience met her
Reward: Russell calls Rolling Stone and makes things right for Will and attempts to make things right with Penny
The Dark Night Rises:
The call to adventure: threats against him and his city
mentors: Alfred - always being there for him and and picking him up when he fell since he was a child, as well as always knowing what the best thing is for Bruce and making sure he does it
goddess: catwoman - being a criminal and a thief catwoman isn't the typical goddess but in this case she is also the 'shapeshifter' and becomes good, doing the right thing and therefore becoming the goddess and the object of batman's affection
Reward: Saves the city

Term 2, Lesson 1
In the first lesson back we got our results and discussed our next assessment. Our next assessment is a film (trailer) on the Hero's Journey which will be done in a group. We watched a documentary on 'The Hero's Journey' it was long and a bit boring but it was a very detailed and helpful overview of the technique.
